All set for The Illuminati quiz

KOCHI: Quizzing talents at Model Engineering College (MEC) are ready with the second edition of "The Illuminati Quiz" held in memory of Sandeep Menon.

A former student of MEC, Sandeep died of brain tumour on May 3, 2008. An avid quizzer, the youngster had founded "The Illuminati", the quizzing society of the college in 2005. The group had organised over 120 intra and inter collegiate quizzes on the campus and outside. Members of the society had also brought home several top honours.

"The spirit of quizzing is what drives the Illuminati forward and this manifests itself as our weekly TGIF (Thank God It`s Friday) quizzes every Friday, when all the quizzers of the college converge and battle it out," says Nidhun Thankachan, secretary of The Illuminati Quiz Club. The second edition of "The Illuminati" will be held at MEC on August 8. Mr. Thankachan said students pursuing a full time degree course in any discipline can participate in the event. Nagadarshan Suresh, renowned quizzer, is the quiz master for the event. Prizes totalling Rs.50,000 will be given away.

Nikhil John, chairman of the Quiz Club, said that "The Illuminati" will be a general quiz. The team should have only two members. Cross college teams (teams with members from different colleges) are allowed.

There will be a written preliminary round.
