Case History of Mr. Narayanan

Narayanan lives at Vattakkatt, Punnayam, Asamanoor PO , Perumbavoor, Kerala, with his wife Valsala and two daughters and one son. All children are very good in studies and are currently undergoing Post graduate courses. He used to work as skilled labourer and used to earn Rs 300-400/- daily. He had availed loans from various institutions for the education of his children. He has 30 cents of land where his house is located and also has some cultivation land.

He was diagnosed with Ca Gallbladder. His illness started as severe jaundice with itching for which he went for ayurvedic remedy and was not effective. He was then treated at PVS hospital. He had Radical cholecystectomy and wedge resection of liver and hepatico jejunostomy on7 th June 2009 at PVS hospital, Ernakulam for adenocarcinoma gall bladder. He was operated by Dr. Prakash. The expenses for the operation, nearly Rs. 2.25 lakhs, was received in donation from well wishers in his village including Panchayath president, MLA, Doctors in his neighbourhood etc.. A donation Rs. 50000 was received from the students of college where his children where studying. He raised Rs.70000 from selling trees like Mahagony in his land.

His chemotherapy was started on 23 July 2009 . He had completed seven doses of Injection, the expenses of Rs. 40000/-, was met by the amount donated by Novelty Charitable Society, a trust in his place. After the first Chemo, he had problems with bowel movements for which he had to take treatment which again costed him Rs.6000/-

As he could not afford the expenses of the further treatments, he was referred to the Foundation by Dr.Rosy for support. SMF has decided to support Narayanan from November 2009 onwards.
